IMPORTANT: I-20 Instructions, Response Required

Campus Announcements | Posted on January 15, 2021

Dear international students,

This message is for new Andrews University international students studying on campus or remotely in spring 2021 and international students who are not new but received an initial I-20 for spring 2021.

If you are a continuing international student at Andrews University with an I-20 you received before spring 2021, you do not need to read further and I wish you a very successful semester!

For new international students and students with an initial I-20 for spring 2021, I am writing to quickly remind you about important instructions you are required to follow as soon as possible in order to avoid any future holds on your University account and, in some extreme cases, cancellation of your I-20.

These instructions were shared in the Sunday, Jan. 10, Spring 2021 New International Student Orientation. You can access the presentation that was given at that orientation here.

There is a lot of important information in this presentation, including answers to questions frequently asked by many of our international students, so I encourage you to read and review the entire presentation, especially if you were not able to attend.

I want to especially highlight two different sets of instructions given in the orientation, one for international students studying on our Berrien Springs campus in spring 2021 and one for international students studying remotely from outside of the United States in spring 2021.

On-campus students should send the items below to Silmara Ferreira directly at silmara@alexblog.net as soon as possible. These items are needed to activate your I-20 now that you are on campus. Please note: If your I-20 is not activated within 30 days of the start of the semester (by Feb. 11, 2021), your I-20 will automatically be cancelled in the SEVIS database sometime later this semester.

These are the items needed:

  • Scanned copy or photo (taken on your phone) of your signed I-20 (front page)
  • Scanned copy of your visa page in your passport
  • Copy of your I-94 (you can access your I-94 by going here and choosing “Get Most Recent I-94”)

Students studying remotely outside of the United States should email Christian Stuart directly at christians@alexblog.net as soon as possible with the following information:

  • Confirmation that you are outside of the United States taking Andrews University classes remotely
  • Request for the health insurance requirement to be waived for spring 2021
  • Confirmation that you would like your I-20 postponed or canceled (if you received an I-20 for spring 2021)

I want to thank each one of you for following these instructions carefully and promptly so that we can help you maintain your status and you can focus on your Andrews University studies.

Once again, welcome and have a great semester!
