AU Abroad

The premiere summer program of the Office of Undergraduate Education, AU Abroad is a collaborative and interdisciplinary academic experience in Europe. Further your undergraduate education each summer at one of two locations in the United Kingdom or France! Through strategic partnerships and community connections, students will have the opportunity to study, learn, and experience life outside the classroom during the month of May.

AU Abroad London Courses and Tour: May 12-28, 2025

AU Abroad France Courses and Tour: May 28-June 18, 2025

Application and Admissions

 All interested students must complete the tour application. Students must have a 2.75 cumulative college GPA as of the Fall semester. Students must be on good academic standing and good citizenship standing. There is no deposit for AU Abraod 2024

Students can apply for AU Abroad using the instructions below. Applications for courses is on a first come, first serve basis. We recommend completing the application by December 15, 2024.

English 255: Studies in Literature (United Kingdom)

ENGL 255: Mind the Gap: Bridging Tourist sites and Local Lives

This dynamic two-week course explores the intersection between tourist attractions and the rhythms of everyday life, examining how both physical spaces and cultural practices reveal the multifaceted nature of British identity. 
 

HORT 250: History of Landscape Architecture (United Kingdom)

A study of landscape history throughout civilization and its impact upon society, art and the environment. This course will look at the origin of landscape architectural styles and characteristics. We'll visit historic sites like Stonehenge, Salisbury Cathedral and Bath.

AU Abroad students enjoying a day at the Chelsea Physics Garden in London. Each year the horticulture class visits numerous gardens throughout the English countryside to better understand the concepts they learn about in the classroom.

BSAD 475: Operations Management (United Kingdom)

Experience global business behind the scenes. Tour global companies and cultural sights to dissect the cultural nuances of inter-relational dynamics of managing in an international environment.

INT 230: Textiles for Interiors (United Kingdom)

Learn concepts like space allocation, environmental design and material selection. That way, you’ll have the skills to not only design, but also to challenge existing ideas

Design Centre, Chelsea Harbour in London is the world’s premier destination for design and decoration.

Home to 130+ showrooms and  more than 600 international brands, it is the largest of kind in Europe. It's just one of many amazing locations you'll visit as you grow your design skills with AU Abroad.

FREN 3XX: French Cuisine (France)

The Art of the Table: French Culture and Cuisine

An immersive art experience in the south of France. Students will learn of the rich culinary traditions of France and learn to cook many different french sauces and dishes.

Brantome, France is the home of our second AU Abroad location. Located in the Périgueux region of Southwestern France, Brantome sits on a bend of the river Dronne. The river encircles a large part of the town and flows past the Benedictine Abbey and archeological site. Brantome is considered one of the most beautiful towns in Southern France and is a 2 hour train ride from Paris.

MUPF 339: Chamber Ensemble(France)

A small ensemble that will perfrom at various locations in Southern France. Please contact us for more information.

What's Included

AU Abroad Participants will receive the following for 3 credit hours and course fee.
• Pick up and return to the destination airport on the advertised days.
• 2 meals per day.
• Pick up and return to the destination airport on the advertised days.
• Double occupancy housing.

AU Abroad does not cover the following.
• Flight to and from the destination airport
• Books and materials.
• Solo travel outside of advertised group trips.
• Meals outside of those provided to the group.
• Airport transportation for arrivals or departures before or after advertised tour dates.
