Join us for another learning adventure! 

AU Tours is a new initiative from the Office of Undergraduate Education to create exciting travel experiences for alumni, employees and friends of the university. Hosted by current and former AU faculty, staff and administration, we invite you to participate in foreign and domestic tours that offer unique excursions, opportunities for cultural immersion and much more.

Vienna, Salzburg and Prague

Discover the wonders of Europe’s best Christmas Markets on this immersive 8-day tour! View the historic sights and buildings of cosmopolitan Prague and take in a world-renowned production of the Nutcracker at the National Theatre. Tour the palaces and museums of Vienna. Enjoy the Sound of Music Tour and an take in an Opera performance in Salzburg and much more.

 

Vienna, Austria

Our Tour begins in Vienna. Home to over a dozen Christmas markets, we'll visit the Belvedere and Schönbrunn Palaces, St. Stephens Cathedral and other guided attractions in the area. Vienna has some of the most charming Christmas markets in Europe. Spread throughout the city, each has it’s own personality, selection of vendors and unique mug.

Salzburg, Austria

The birthplace of Mozart, inspiration for fairy tales, and one of the most beautiful towns in central Europe. We'll spend time taking in the beauty of the Altstadt, visit the Fortress Hohensalzburg, and enjoy the classic Sound of Music tour.

Prague, Czech Republic

Karlův Most, or the Charles Bridge, is an iconic medieval bridge spanning the Vltava river. Lined with nearly 30 statues, the bridge connects to the central Old Town to Prague Castle and St. Vitus Cathedral. 

Itinerary

December 3, Tuesday: Arrive at Vienna International Airport, transfer to hotel in Vienna, evening walking tour of central Vienna.

December 4, Wednesday: Morning at Melk Abbey, afternoon at the Vienesse Dream Market, evening show at the Burgtheatre.

December 5, Thursday: Morning at the Belvedere Palace and market, afternoon transport to Prague and hotel check in, evening stroll to Old Town Center.

December 6, Friday: Charles Bridge and Prague Castle. Afternoon at the Old Town Christmas Market.

December 7, Saturday: (Optional) Service at Prague SDA Church. Afternoon Tour of Jewish Old Quarter, Historic Cometary and Synagogue. Evening Show at the Obecní Dům.

December 8, Sunday: Morning transfer to Salzburg, afternoon city center exploration, evening at Central Christmas Market.

December 9, Monday: Sound of Music tour in Morning, afternoon free, fine dining dinner experience.
 

December 10, Tuesday: transfer to Vienna, final market tours, farewell dinner.

December 11, Wednesday: transfer to Vienna International Airport
 

Booking

 The Tour includes the following.
• Transfer to and from Vienna International Airport
• Double Occupancy Hotel
• Breakfast everyday
• One additional meal each day.
• All transfer between cities
• All listed activities, including event and museum tickets.

The Tour does not include the following.
• Airfare
• Meals above what is outlined.
• Additional tips and service.
• Single occupancy rooms. (limited options available upon request)
