Physical Therapy—Transitional DPT
Provides advanced learning for practicing physical therapists, will enhance their skills in medical screening, differential diagnosis, clinical leadership and administration, imaging and laboratory science, therapeutic exercise prescription, education, and research. This degree transitions the clinician to the academic standard of the entry-level DPT graduate and truly trains the clinician to become a direct access practitioner. Two delivery options are available.:
1. On Campus- for the international student with a bachelor's or master's degree in physical therapy from their country of origin.
2. Interactive Online- Online with 1-2 short intensives on-campus. Participants interact with each other and with instructor throughout all courses.
PROGRAM LENGTH
- On-campus: 38 credits program, full-time, completed in 18-24 months
- Interactive Online: 35 credits program, full or part-time, completed in 2-3 years.

POINTS OF DISTINCTION
- Transitions the clinician to the academic standard of the entry-level DPT degree
- On-campus-provides internationally trained PT an immersion experience into the culture of US DPT programs and advances clinical skills through onsite and ‘real world’ clinical practicums
- Interactive Online- provides the US trained and licensed PT a flexible program
ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS
- The equivalent of a 4 year US bachelor's degree
- Applicants must have graduated from an approved school of physical therapy and be licensed to practice physical therapy in their country of origin or country in which they live.
- Two years of experience working as a physical therapist prior to applying
- Recommendations – three satisfactory recommendations from a currently practicing physical therapist, a medical doctor, and another person familiar with the candidate.
- Transcripts – An original copy of all academic transcripts from any institution where classes were taken must be sent to Andrews University for transcript evaluation. In addition, if the transcripts are not written in English, a copy in the original language as well as the English translation are required.
- English Proficiency - Students whose language of education is not English must submit a minimum iBTOEFL score of 80 or IELTS score of 6.5.
- Portfolio – If you hold a master’s degree you need to submit your portfolio, including current resume, proof of all post-graduate continuing education courses with contact hours and dates, and proof of certifications if applicable.
- PTET - United States and Canadian trained physical therapists whose highest earned degree is a bachelor's in physical therapy must complete the Physical Therapy Evaluation Tool (PTET).
